LOOK BACK AT NEDFEST 2013
Located at the Eddy families acreage called "Homestead", there is room enough to build a covered stage, with professional lighting and sound, vendors for food and souvenirs and room for fans bring out their chairs and blankets then dance the night away.
The property has plenty of room to pitch a tent or park a small trailer or an RV to stay the night.
The concert has a family atmosphere and in the past has worked to donate money to the Canadian Cancer Society. This year they encourage and will accept donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
I have shot two concerts and was I was honored last year to be the official concert photographer, I got to shoot some great images and heard some great bands.
This year may be the last year for the concert so you don't want to miss this one.
Returning to NEDFEST are The Colts . . . The New Leaves . . . Clearcut . . Dirty Harriet . . . Weak Patrol . . . and this year, new to NEDFEST is Nanaimo's super group Trace the Sky.
Here are some of the images I took at the 2013 NEDFEST, shown in the hopes you will come to NEDFEST 2014.
THE COLTS
The Colts come from musical roots they are Autumn Kennedy, Harbour Nolan, Ruben Dominelli, Cairo Kennedy. Managed by Caleb Kennedy of Weak Patrol these kids make great music with cover tunes and originals.
THE NEW LEAVES
DIRTY HARRIET
The Band's plays Alternative Rock music and is fronted be Sabrina Kufner- vocals and rhythm guitar, Nathan Arrowsmith on bass guitar, Shawn Lofgren lead guitar and Jeremy Loewen on drums
The band plays up and down the island mostly in Victoria and Nanaimo and are working on their first album.
Reverb Nation says Dirty Harriet is a chilling, spine-tingling ride carrying rock to a new melodic level, featuring haunting vocals surrounded by a vortex of textures that captivate a wide range of audiences.
Check out some of their music on reverbnation.com.
CLEARCUT
Over the past year they have been busy playing island venues as well as at their hometown Shaker Mill Restaurant and at the (old) Riverside Inn.
WEAK PATROL
Carling Battistuzzi provides the vocals, Caleb Kennedy on rhythm guitar, and Jaime Nolan on lead guitar. Willis Schneider’s pounds out the bass with Dekan Delaney on drums and vicious vocals.
Weak Patrol can be seen all around Victoria and on the Island from Tofino / Ucluelet to Port Hardy and Parksville.
Seeing them in the outdoor venue NEDFEST is epic.
Check them out on YouTube and Vimeo.
BE A PART OF NEDFEST 2014
All the bands that played at NEDFEST last year were absolutely fabulous with a variety of different styles of music, a few of them I had never seen before but I was blown away by each of them.
Sound and Lights were top notch, done by local professionals, and being able to spend the night and hang with the bands, priceless.
